“Art is the desire of a man to express himself, to record the reactions of his personality to the world he lives in.” ~Amy Lowell
The Sacral Chakra is your passion and pleasure center and its energy is characterized by flow and flexibility. While the Root Chakra is satisfied with survival, the 2nd chakra seeks pleasure and enjoyment. The gift of this chakra is experiencing our lives through feelings and sensations. The second chakra is the center of feeling, emotion, pleasure, sensuality, intimacy, and connection.
The energy of this chakra allows you to let go, to move, and to feel change and transformation occurring within your body. It allows you to experience this moment as it is, in its own fullness. The main challenge for the second chakra is the conditioning of our society. We live in a society where feelings are not valued, where passion and emotional reactions are being frowned upon. We are being taught not to "lose control". And we get disconnected from our bodies, our feelings. As if this was not enough, we also experience the wounds of our collective cultural struggles over many sexual issues of our society. On one hand sexuality is magnified and glorified, and on the other hand, it is rejected. This results in either blocked or excessive second chakra issues.
People with balanced sacral chakras radiate warmth, playfulness, and good humor. It’s particularly active in our sexuality and the expression of our sensual and sexual desires. Motivated by pleasure, it’s the driving force for the enjoyment of life through the senses, whether it’s auditory, through taste, touch, or sight. As such, it’s an important chakra at the foundation of our feeling of well-being, it is what gives you the ability to be open with and nurture yourself and others.
When sacral energy flow is blocked, you can become unemotional and experience uncertainty, insecurity, and an inability to cope with life’s changes. Unfortunately, many experiences in life can lead to blocked sacral chakras. If you’ve experienced body shame, a strict or authoritarian upbringing, sexual abuse or dysfunction, toxic relationships, religious indoctrination, or critical forms of social conditioning that have limited the flow of your life force energy, you likely have an impaired sacral chakra.
Feeling detached and rigid in your routine to the point you’re unable to ride out life’s ups and downs is a sure sign the sacral chakra is blocked and in need of clearing and healing. A lack of self-esteem or self-worth stemming from a sacral chakra imbalance can also contribute to finding one’s self in unhealthy, and sometimes abusive, relationships.
When the sacral chakra is balanced, you feel in harmony with life. You are able to express yourself creatively and to mature with each new experience life offers — both good and bad
